How to re-create Show Desktop icon shortcut

Show Desktop icon in quick toolbar is a very useful command to minimize all open window at once. If the icon is deleted accidentally, recreation of the icon not easy as new shortcut creation. Show Desktop is windows special icon and require following procedure to build new show desktop icon. Follow these steps to create Show Desktop icon manually:

  • Open notepad by Start -> Run, type notepad, and then click OK.
    OR
    Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Notepad
  • In Notepad, type the following lines or copy and paste from here

    [Shell] Command=2
    IconFile=explorer.exe,3
    [Taskbar] Command=ToggleDesktop

  • On the File menu, click Save As, and then save the file to your desktop as Show Desktop.scf. Please make sure file should not save as .txt file. To make sure this, enclose file name within double quote.
